Christopher A. Thompson Appointed Bedford High School Principal

The Bedford Board of Education has appointed Christopher A. Thompson as Principal of Bedford High School. Mr. Thompson’s contract is effective August 1, 2019 through July 31, 2021.

“Mr. Thompson brings a wealth of experience to Bedford High,” said Bedford Superintendent Andrea Celico. “He has a proven track record of being collaborative, child-centered, and hardworking,  all qualities we look forward to seeing in his role as Principal of Bedford High.”

Since June 2015, Mr. Thompson was Principal of Clyde A. Erwin Middle School in the Buncombe County Schools in Asheville, N.C. From 2013-2015, he served as Assistant Principal at Clyde A. Erwin High School. Prior to becoming an administrator, he served the district for nine years as a Special Education/Inclusion teacher.

Mr. Thompson has a “students first” mindset and believes in creating a welcoming school culture to encourage parent and community involvement. He has developed and monitored administrative best practices and policies in his previous positions while maintaining a safe learning environment.

“I am very excited and proud to be the Principal of Bedford High School, and specifically to be working with the students, staff, and families that make up this great district,” said Mr. Thompson. “I believe that education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving our community better than we found it.  My goal is to Engage to Empower Every Student Every Day at Bedford High School!

Mr. Thompson, who was raised in Willard, Ohio, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio.  He earned his Teacher Certification in Special Education Cross Categorical from Mars Hill College, Mars Hill N.C. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Executive Leadership from Gardner Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC.
