"Did You Know?"

Again, welcome to Bedford High School’s 133rd commencement. We ask that family members remain seated throughout the ceremony.  Board Vice President Mrs. Patterson, members of the Board of Education, Superintendent Celico, faculty, honored guests, parents/guardians, and members of the graduating class of 2018.
 

Every year, each graduating class continues to raise the standard by shattering the goals of the previous graduating class. Each and every year, I am amazed and in awe of our students and their accomplishments.
 

So if you would, please allow me to indulge you for a brief moment with some interesting facts about the class of 2018 in which you may not know…
 

Did you know that we have 15 students who are going to serve in the armed services: four in the Marines, five in the Air Force, two in the Army, three in the Navy and one in the National Coast Guard. They are Lazarus Baker, Erik Brooks, Elijah Small, Michael Stephens, and Gabriella Waple, Air Force; Tyree Bradford and Eric Johnson, Army; Jesse Harris, Anthony Jones, Rajel Goulbourne, and Brandon Wright, Marines; Amir Shelton, National Coast Guard; and Amere Deaver, Trevonn Roseberry, and Diara Spencer, Navy. 
 

Did You Know?

We have four young men who qualified for the OHSSA State Track Meet this evening. They could not attend tonight's commencement services because they are competing as we speak. They are Kevin Brewer, Davion Johnson, Deangelo Howard and Keshun Jones.
 

Did You Know?

We have nearly 50 students who are a part of our College Credit Plus Program. Each of these students have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher. They have earned over 20 college credit hours, have earned over $300,000.00 in scholarships collectively, have interned with organizations such as Rockwell Automation, Information Technology Systems, Cleveland Clinic science internship in applied medicine, Lorain Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, Kent State University, Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University. Would those students who participated in the CCP program please stand.
 

Did You Know?

We have one young lady who will be our first student ever to earn the new Ohio Department of Education's Career Readiness Seal along with earning college credit at Tri-C. She is Destiny Johnson.
 

Did You Know?

Three young ladies have already received their associate’s degree from Tri-C. They are, Tyzha Gunn, Deandra Washington-Williams, and Alexis McKeller.
 

Did You Know?

We have a young man who has already graduated from Tri-C with two degrees — an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science. This young man has studied music at Tri-C, has traveled abroad and played with professional musicians in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Cuba and Jamaica. He is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to attend Kent State University in the fall to study aeronautics: Avandre Sales.
 

This is just a very small snippet of the accomplishments of the Class of 2018. We are proud of each of you!
