Central Primary School physical education teacher Wendy Whaley was named the 2019 Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (OAHPERD). She was presented with this prestigious award on December 5, 2019, at the OAHPERD Annual State Convention at the Kalahari Indoor Water Park and Convention Center in Sandusky. Whaley, who is in her 16th year of teaching in Bedford, also serves as the District Health and Physical Education K-6 Subject Area Coordinator.
Ms. Whaley said that getting kids hooked on moving and taking care of their bodies is not only her educational philosophy for teaching, but also is the best job ever. Her goal is to help her students build their physical skills, confidence, cooperation and appreciation for physical activity each year in her class.
