The Bedford City School Board District’s Board of Education is an elected body that plays a critical role in shaping the educational landscape of our district.  Elected by community members, the board consists of dedicated individuals who represent diverse perspectives and bring a wealth of experience and passion for education.

Their responsibilities include establishing policies, approving budgets, and advocating for the needs of students and staff. By working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and the community, the school board  ensures that our school district remains accountable, transparent, and remains steadfast in its vision to provide high-quality education that empowers and inspires each student to reach their full potential.

Angelic Carter

Angelic Carter

President of the School Board

Angelic Carter is a proud graduate of The Bedford City School District, Class of1999, and she was elected to the school board in 2024.  As the Owner and Operator of Angelic Designs CLE and Co-founder of the Carter Family Scholarship Foundation, she is committed to enhancing educational opportunities for local students.

In addition, she provides training to aspiring cosmetologists preparing for their Ohio State Board exams, helping them achieve their professional goals. Angelic holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology, equipping her with valuable skills for her role on the Curriculum Committee. In her free time, she cherishes spending quality moments with her family, whether it’s enjoying a movie together or participating in shared activities.

Angelic's current term will conclude at the end of 2028, during which she aims to make a positive impact on the school district and its students.

Sharyn Macklin

Sharyn Macklin

Vice-President

Sharyn Macklin has proudly served on the school board since her election in 2021. A Bedford High School graduate of the Class of 1972, she has deep roots in the community.

As the owner and operator of Ms. Sharyn's Food Truck since 2008, she shares her passion for cooking and has become a beloved figure at local events and gatherings. Sharyn’s entrepreneurial spirit reflects her commitment to supporting the community, and she actively participates in initiatives such as the Grounds and Buildings Committee through the Bedford Foundation.

When she’s not fostering educational excellence, Sharyn enjoys riding her Harley and cherishing quality time with her family. She is dedicated to improving the school district and creating memorable experiences for students and their families.

Sharyn's current term will conclude in December 2025, during which she plans to continue making a positive impact on education in our communities.

Anthony Akins

Anthony Akins

Board Member

Anthony Akins is a proud graduate of Bedford City Schools, Class of 1996, and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served four years after high school.

Elected to the school board on November 2, 2021, Anthony currently works as a Lead Virtual Producer for Deloitte, one of the Big Four accounting firms, where he produces webcasts and LinkedIn Live events.

Mr. Akins holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix. In addition to his professional commitments, Anthony enjoys traveling and has a passion for Marvel and DC comic movies, as well as a collection of comic books and action figures.

Mr. Akins enjoys giving back to the community and serves on both the Human Resources Committee and Communication/Community Engagement Committee, with his current term set to end on December 31, 2025.

Danielle Turner Birch

Danielle Turner Birch

Board Member

Danielle M. Turner Birch is a proud graduate of Bedford City Schools, Class of 2002, and was elected to The Bedford City School District in November 2021.  She is a qualified mental health specialist and the owner of Coach U Consulting & Wellness, LLC, which provides wellness development coaching and consulting services.

She holds a Bachelor of Education (BS.Ed) and two Master of Science degrees in Administration, one in Organizational Leadership and the other in Training & Development, along with certification as a Life Coach and dance fitness instructor.

Mrs. Turner Birch is actively involved in several organizations advocating for education, health and wellness, community service, and political action at local, state, and national levels. She has served as the OSBA Legislative Liaison for four years and as a member of the OSBA Diversity, Equity Committee for three years.

Additionally, she contributes to the District Policy, Finance, and Community Engagement committees. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys supporting others through various activities such as singing, dancing, walking, running, and watching movies, reflecting her commitment to wellness and community engagement.

Committed to advocating for the educational needs of students, Mrs. Turner Birch's current term on the school board is set to conclude December 31, 2025. 

Eva Boyington

Eva Boyington

Board Member

Eva Boyington is a dedicated educator and community leader, currently serving her second term on the school board after being reelected in 2023.

She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum Instruction from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, and brings valuable insights from her experience as an elementary educator. Eva is passionate about fostering academic growth and well-being within the district and serves on various committees, including the Policy and Academic Achievement committees for the Bedford City School District, as well as the Student Achievement committee through the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA).

In her personal life, Eva finds joy in spending quality time with her family, indulging in her love for reading, attending church, and enjoying dramatic films.

Committed to creating a positive impact in the community, Eva’s current term on the school board is set to conclude in 2028, where she continues to advocate for the educational needs of all students.
