A Message from Principal Thompson

  • August 7, 2019

Dear Bedford High School Students, Parents and Guardians:

Personally, I am very excited and proud to be the Principal of Bedford High School, and specifically to be working with the students, staff, and families that make up this great district.  Welcome back to our returning students and families!  I would like to give a very special welcome to the incoming class of 2023 and their parents.  We are very excited to have you with us. We have an great school year planned and we look forward to counting on your continued support of Bedford High School.

Our first activities for the year will be as follows:

    Freshman Orientation Camp: Tues August 13th, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m; Meet The BHS Admin. Team: Tues. August 13th, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; BHS Open House: Thurs. August 15th from 4:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m.1st Day of School: Mon., August 19, 7:45 a.m. – 2:20 p.m.

During the first week of school, we will have our expectations assemblies.  This is where we will review our goals, school data, academic success and expectations for our high school.  Bedford High School is built on Pride, Tradition and Achievement.  Students will have the opportunity every single day to make a difference and have a positive impact.

Administrative changes for the 2019-2020 school year include Mr. John Myers, new Dean of Students, Ms. Karla Robinson, new Associate Principal, and myself as new building Principal.  Mr. Harrison and Ms. Lewis will be returning as well.  I would also like to welcome our new Bedford High School staff:  Mr. Fredrick Assmus (Music), Mr. Benjamn Britton (Science), Ms. Illie Burge (Intervention Specialist), Mr. Phillip Martin (Spanish), Ms. Rebecca Rigdon (Intervention Specialist), and Ms. Elyssa Shiver (Science).

Lastly, the dress code for Bedford High School has changed for the 2019-2020 school year.  This is a trial run for students. Students who violate the dress code policy will have consequences.  Please visit the district website to view the complete dress code policy and student code of conduct. Parents, we ask for your assistance and support as we continue to create a culture of opportunity and success.

In closing, we would like to thank you for your continued support of your child and of our school district. I look forward to greeting everyone on the first day of school, Monday, August 19, 2019.

Let me hear your Bearcat ROAR!
