Welcome
Built in 1924 with additions in 1953, 1959, and 1966, Glendale Primary School is one of two primary schools in the Bedford City School District. The school provides educational services to children in preschool through grade two. These children reside in the communities of Bedford, Bedford Heights, Oakwood, and Walton Hills which are located in the southeast part of Cuyahoga County.
Enrollment
Total enrollment at Glendale is approximately 500 students. This includes about 100 kindergartners, 100 first graders, 130 second graders, 100 third graders and about 70 preschool students. School is in session weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Faculty and Staff
Glendale Primary School's building leader is Principal Nora Beach. Previously, Mrs. Beach was an assistant principal at Heskett Middle School. She also was a special education supervisor in the district from 1993 to 1997. In addition, Mrs. Beach spent a total of five years as a teacher in the district. This includes four years teaching students with specific learning disabilities at Heskett Middle School and one year as a fifth-grade teacher at Aurora Upper Intermediate School.
Mrs. Beach has a bachelor's degree with certification to teach kindergarten through grade eight from Ursuline College. She also has a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and certification to teach students with learning disabilities and behavioral problems from Cleveland State University. Mrs. Beach was selected as Teacher of the Year for Bedford City Schools in 1992 and currently holds multiple administrative licenses.
All teachers are certified in the areas that they are teaching and have either completed a Masters program or are currently pursuing their next degree. Other members of our teaching staff include a guidance counselor, psychologist, speech language therapists, and occupational and physical therapists. Our support staff includes instructional assistants, aides, a librarian, a secretary, custodial and cafeteria staff, and a nurse.
