Greetings Glendale Families and Friends:
I hope the children are off to a great start to their summer. I wanted to give one more plug for making sure your child is not affected by the summer slide. The last week of school, every Glendale child came home with their report card and documents outlining a reading and math resource that you can involve your child in over the summer. I recently heard about a writing project including a pen pal activity (click on the attached flyer below for more information). I would also encourage you to get your child involved in the summer reading program at the Southeast Library. The goal for sending home the summer programming for reading, writing and math is to make sure your child participates at least 15 minutes a day. You give your child the best opportunity to avoid the summer slide by having them involved in academic work for at least a little bit of their summer.
If you know your child will not be returning to the Bedford City Schools in August, please withdraw them as soon as possible. Remember, school starts on August 18th for students in grades one through twelve. It will be here before you know it so enjoy each and every day of the summer vacation.
Read, Read, Read!
