Parent organizations
Parental support is an important part of providing students a quality education. In the Bedford City Schools, there are a variety of opportunities for parents to become involved. Here are some of the major parent organizations:

- Educating membership on legislative issues in the area of education
- Assisting teachers in seasonal events and student enrichment activities
- Providing a home-school communications link.
PTAs are active at every school in the Bedford District. For more information about joining, contact your school's main office. Note: at Bedford High School and Heskett Middle School, students may join the PTA and the organization is referred to as the Parent-Teacher-Student-Association(PTSA).
PTA Council - This organization coordinates the activities of all of the school PTAs. The council operates the concession stand at all football home games. Proceeds are used to provide scholarships to graduating seniors.
Bedford Band and Orchestra Parents (BBOP)--This group provides support for the Bedford High School Bearcat Marching Band. BBOP members...
- Raise funds for band uniforms and trips
- Provide refreshments for band members and visiting band members during football games
- Serve as chaperones for Band Camp, field trips, and football games
- Operate a concession stand at Bearcat Stadium during times when the facility is being rented to community groups.
- Provide scholarships to graduating seniors.
Academic Booster Club - The Bedford High School Academic Booster Club (BHS-ABC) is a volunteer organization that works to promote academic excellence and to provide positive reinforcement through public recognition of student achievement.
The BHS-ABC offers an array of activities for Bedford City School students to encourage academic excellence. This list includes...
- Recognition social for high school students who improve their grade point average (GPA) by .5 and/or achieve a 3.5 GPA
- Incentive prizes (raffles) during the socials.
- A breakfast for students who have achieved a 4.0 GPA or higher (due to weighted grades) during a grading period.
- Scholarships for graduating seniors.
- Medallions for seniors who earn an Honors Diploma.
- A monetary contribution to Heskett Middle School to support the 8th grade academic activities.
All activities are primarily funded through concession stand proceeds raised during volleyball and basketball games at Bedford High School. BHS-ABC annual membership levels start at $5 per person. For more information, call 440-439-4588.
Bedord High School Athletic Boosters - The Bedford Athletic Boosters Club fosters and promotes the extracurricular activities serving students in the Bedford City School District, with a primary focus on the interscholastic athletic program.
The Athletic Boosters provide scholarships annually to scholar/athletes. Funds are raised primarily through the sale of Bedford Bearcat Spirit wear. Meetings are usually held monthly. For more information about Athletic Boosters, call 440-439-4588.
Heskett Middle School Parent Boosters - Using proceeds from gate fees and concession sales at home athletic events, Heskett Parent Boosters provide support for students involved in athletic and extracurricular activities at Heskett Middle School. Activities include Booster Fun Nights and an end-of-the-year event to support those students who are active in athletics and extra-curricular offerings at Heskett. Membership consists of parents, guardians, grandparents, school staff, and members of the community. Volunteers are always needed to run the concession stands. Heskett Parent Boosters meet monthly.
