Mr. Jackson has been an Athletic Administrator since the fall of 2008. Before the beginning of his tenure as Director of Athletics Student Activities and Special Events for the Bedford City School District, Mr. Jackson was a Social Studies Teacher and Head Wrestling Coach for the same school district. He enjoys serving the Bedford Bearcat community. He has been involved in interscholastic athletics in every capacity as a student athlete, coach and administrator for over 25 years. He has always loved all sports and the competitive nature of sports in general. He has coached at all ages levels. Mr. Jackson received his Masters in Sports Management from Cleveland State University in 2003 and eagerly waited for the right opportunity to come along. He has also completed his Masters in Educational Administration from CSU in 2009.

The Purpose of the Bedford Athletics and Activities Program
The purpose of the athletic department at Bedford is to offer students a variety of opportunities to experience meaningful growth through the development of sound mind and body. The purpose of our athletic program is to enhance self-esteem and self-respect in addition to guiding the student-athletes toward becoming mature adults. Student-athletes are encouraged to try any and all sports as long as they are committed to work as a team member and attend practice and games. The goal for our athletes is to see beyond the individual and to work together for the good of the school and community. Athletics at Bedford High school sports will be a continuation of the classroom so that such lifetime values as citizenship, sportsmanship, teamwork, and hard work are taught and reinforced.
It is the goal of the Bedford High School Athletic programs provide a positive experience for student athletes, their families, and the community. The purpose of the Bedford High School Athletic Program is to promote the education and development of students through high school athletic participation. Our school is committed to an inclusive program with high standards and the principles of athletics serve as a essential part of the total educational program offered by Bedford High School. Bedford embraces the concepts of student athletics and recognizes the importance of individuality for each student. The school also recognizes the values of the Lake Erie League and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
Bedford High School pursues the following goals for student athletes:
- Accept the responsibility to become an effective, contributing member of society, with self respect, respect for others, knowledge, and skills necessary to become independent, intellectually curious and self-fulfilled members of society.
- The student athletes, faculty, staff, and administration of Bedford High School will work cooperatively with families, members of the community, and the Board of Education to create a safe, welcoming, and academic environment which embraces, challenges, and nurtures the diverse talents, interests, and learning styles of all its students.
- Perform as a positive role model at school and in the community.
- Fulfill academic responsibilities while progressing to meet the requirements for graduation and preparing oneself for life after high school.
- Maintain eligibility for participation in every athletic contest.
Goals of the Bedford High School Athletics
- Bedford High school student athletes will become effective readers by reading the purpose of athletics at Bedford High School, play books, OHSAA guidelines, and district guidelines for athletic eligibility
- Bedford High School student athletes will become effective writers by taking part in the annual OHSAA sportsmanship questionnaire.
- Bedford High School student athletes will become self directed learners by adjusting to different game situations for the better of the team, learn self discipline, and learn about how proper nutrition effects each athletes individual body.
- Bedford High School student athletes will become effective problem solvers by figuring out ways to overcome, help team is many adverse situations that can happen within any athletic practice or game
- Bedford High School student athletes will become collaborative and cooperative workers by working together with teammates and coaches to obtain team goals.
- Bedford High School student athletes will become a respectful person by doing what he or she can do to improves self and team, respect coaches, opponents, fans, and officials.
