The Bedford Board of Education is leveraging Cloud-based technology to improve its governance processes while saving staff time and taxpayer dollars. Beginning February 2, 2017, the Board will begin to utilize an electronic board management solution called BoardDocs. BoardDocs provides a means of electronically publishing and revising agenda items and support documents while maintaining a searchable repository of all data.
Electronic distribution will save time and resources by alleviating the large task of assembling, printing, distributing and revising board packets. In addition to saving time and money, BoardDocs will also increase transparency and provide more open communication with the public by providing public access via the District’s website to meeting notices, agenda items, minutes and other board-related information. All documents associated with a meeting are automatically archived and can be accessed by date or by using the system’s comprehensive Search feature.
BoardDocs will also increase the amount of time board members have to review agenda information, enabling them to better prepare for meetings. During school board meetings, audience members will now see board members using their electronic devices, such as smart phones and iPads, to retrieve their information.
The District will no longer send regular board meeting notices, agendas or minutes to people who have requested them, since that information will now be available on the district website at www.bedford.k12.oh.us. The District will, however, continue to send notices of special board meetings to those who have expressed an interest in receiving them.
