Joseph V. Mestnik, Board MemberMr. Mestnik served on the Board from 1990-1997 and from 2004 to 2011. He was re-elected in 2015. He was President in 1994, 1996, 1997, and 2006, and Vice President in 1993 and 2010. He is the Editor of the Liberty News & Views (est. 1984), a community newspaper serving Bedford, Bedford Heights, Glenwillow, Oakwood Village, Solon and Walton Hills. He is also President of Alpha Consulting Alliance.  Alpha Consulting Alliance provides third-party business valuation and turnaround management services. He is a specialist in “root cause” analysis. Mr. Mestnik is a motivational speaker and relates his experience in being a State Champion Wrestler as a model for others to succeed in their endeavors. Mr. Mestnik served on the Oakwood Village Council from 1974-1980. He originated senior snow plowing of driveways and regulation of truck traffic on municipal roads, a trend that spread throughout the northern United States. He also was chairman of the Oakwood Village Planning Commission from 1971-1974 and was instrumental in the municipal plan that has resulted in some of the lowest real estate taxes in Cuyahoga County. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy from 1965-69 (Vietnam Veteran). The Bedford Sun Banner selected him as one of the most influential people locally in 2006. He is a 1961 graduate of Bedford High School, a 1965 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics, and a 1979 graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. A District and State wrestling champ, Mr. Mestnik was inducted into the Bedford High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. He is a member and currently serves as President of the Bedford Rotary Club, a Life member of the French-Bartlett Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Mensa International, Church of the Resurrection, and Mt. Zion of Oakwood Village Cultural Hall of Fame. A resident of Oakwood Village, he has three sons, all graduates of Bedford High School. His current term expires on December 31, 2019.
