Phil Stevens, PresidentMr. Stevens was elected to the Board in January 2009 and was re-elected in 2013. He served as President in 2011 and 2016, as Vice President in 2012, and he is currently serving as President for 2017.  A 35-year educator, he is the Director of Operations for the Richmond Heights Local Schools. He retired on June 1, 2012 as Athletic Director from the Warrensville Heights City School District, where he had been employed since 1998. From 2012-2014, he was Director of Athletics at Lutheran East High School.  He began his teaching career in 1984 in the Cleveland Municipal School District in the area of Industrial Technology and Computers. In 1985, he began teaching in the Cleveland Heights/University Heights School District, where he also coached junior high volleyball, boys’ and girls’ track, boys’ and girls’ basketball, baseball, and high school football.  He also coached boys’ freshman basketball and was assistant coach for varsity basketball for the Bedford Bearcats in 1991. Mr. Stevens is currently a member of the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Northeast Regional Executive Committee. A Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA), Mr. Stevens is a member of the Northeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrator Associations (NEOIAAA), and the Northeast District Athletic Board. He served as President of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Board of Directors in 2013. He currently serves on both the OHSAA Diversity Committee and the Officials Advisory Committee; and he is an OHSAA certified football and basketball official. Other affiliations include the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO), Cleveland Football Officials Association (CFOA), Lake Erie Basketball Officials Association (LEBOA) and National Federation High School Equity Committee. He is a member of both the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Oakwood and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Mr. Stevens has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership Administration and Supervision from Ashland University.  Residents of Bedford Heights, Mr. Stevens and his wife Barretta, a Bedford High School graduate and a Maple Heights School employee, have two children, Phil Jr. and Kristen, both BHS graduates, and one grandchild, Rashad Smalls Jr. Mr. Stevens’ term expires on December 31, 2017.
