BHS STUDENT TAKES FIRST PLACE IN MLK ESSAY CONTEST

Bedford High School sophomore India Gardener was the first-place winner in the 9th to 12th-grade division of the 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Awards Contest sponsored by East View United Church of Christ in Shaker Heights. Award winners were honored at a Breakfast Program on the Martin Luther King holiday, January 15th. At the program, India was presented with the top prize of $500.

Approximately 200 people attended the Breakfast Program/MLK Celebration. The keynote speaker was sports broadcaster and analyst Delvis Valentine. Students wrote on the following theme: “What would Martin Luther King say about NFLSuperintendent Andrea Celico with India Gardener at Feb. 15th school board meeting players taking a knee during the National Anthem?”
