Message from December 11, 2017:

Good Evening!  This Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!  Tonight, I have three announcements:

1)  I would like to invite you all out to our Vocal & Hand Bell Winter Concert tomorrow night, December 12th.  The concert will be held in the Heskett Auditorium and will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.  Student who will be performing are instructed to arrive at school by 6:00 p.m. 

2)  Please join the students and staff at Heskett Middle School in trying to keep families of need warm for the holidays.  We are collecting gloves and scarves during the month of December for donation to our local churches.  Please give today to help warm up others for the holidays!

3)  Heskett's PTSA and Student Council will be sponsoring our annual Winter Dance on Friday, December 15th from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Tickets are $1.00 for PTSA members and $3.00 for non-members and will go on sale on Friday!

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE! Tonight, I have three reminders for you:

1)  I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. This is a great time to let you know that my staff and I are so very thankful to be your partners in the education of your children.  Remember...Together Everyone Achieves More!

2)  Our Fall Sports Awards Program is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, November 27th in the Heskett Auditorium. Please join us as we celebrate all of our athletes who participated in Football, Volleyball, Cross Country Track, Soccer, and Cheerleading.  The program will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.

3)  It is not too late if you have not donated to our Food Drive because we will be collecting canned good all this week for our local Food Pantries.  So, remember...it is not too late, if you have something to donate!

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!  Tonight I have a few announcements for you.

1)  The 1st Quarter Academic Awards Program is tomorrow, Friday, November 10th at 9:30 a.m.  Invitations were mailed last week to the homes of the students who will be recognized. Please join us as we celebrate 188 students who will be receiving awards for the Achievement Roll, Merit Roll, Honor Roll, and High Honor Roll. There will be a cookie and punch reception immediately following the program.

2)  Picture Re-take Day is Tuesday, November 14th!  In order for students to retake their school pictures, they must return the picture packet that they received, in tact, to the office prior to November 14th.

3)  Bring Your Parent To School Day is Wednesday, November 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Heskett Middle School.  If you are planning to attend, please RSVP today so that we can plan accordingly. Come spend the day at school with your child, participate in our Data Day, and learn about all of the wonderful features of GradeBook.  Light refreshments will be served!

4)  We are still collecting donations for our Food Drive to support the local Food Pantry.  We are asking that each family try to give 2-3 canned goods to support our effort for the holiday season. Our goal is to collect 1000 cans for each of our grade levels to make a huge difference in the lives of deserving families.

5)  Date Change:  Fall Sports Awards Program is changed to Monday, November 27th due to many of our 8th graders attending the Washington, D.C. trip.  Program will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Heskett Auditorium.

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE. Tonight I just a few reminders for you:

1)  Please be reminded that the Halloween Party has been cancelled for tomorrow due to poor student behavior at our last two assemblies.  However, this Friday, November 3rd, we will have a Fall into Fun Behavior Reward Event for those students who did not receive a SMR or Office Referral for the first marking period.  Teachers will conduct over 30 fun activities during 9th period for these students who have shown good citizenship.

2)  Please be informed that there will be no school for our students on Tuesday, November 7th due to Election Day!  

3)  Parents, you should be receiving informational flyers electronically through our new Peachjar program.  If you have not gotten any flyers, please call the school office to update your email.

4)  Please mark your calendars to SAVE THE DATE for the following events:
                                     Friday, November 10th - 1st Quarter Academic Awards Program @ 9:30 a.m.

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE! Tonight I have three messages for you:

1)  I would like to thank all of our parents/guardians who attended our Parent/Teacher Conferences.  We truly appreciate you making your child's educational progress a priority. 

2)  Friday is Jeans Day!  Students can wear Jeans on Friday for $1.00.  This money will help with our Field Day expenses in the Spring.  Remember Jeans must not have any tears, holes, and rips of any kind and must be appropriate for school.

3)  It is Red Ribbon Week!   Here at Heskett Middle School we promote a Drug Free Environment EVERYDAY.  On Monday, students will receive a Pledge Card and a RED Wrist Band to wear all week.  Students can participate in Red Ribbon Week at NO CHARGE.  The $1.00 on Friday is specifically to wear Jeans!

Monday:  SOCK IT TO DRUGS! - Students may wear crazy/funny Socks!
Tuesday:  TEAM UP & SAY NO to DRUGS! - Students may wear their favorite sports jersey or hat!
Wednesday:  UNITED AGAINST DRUGS! - Students may wear RED to show unity!
Thursday:  BE A HERO, SAY NO TO DRUGS! - Students may wear their superhero cape, shirt or some type of sign showing their superhero powers!
Friday:  CLASS SPIRIT TO FIGHT DRUGS! - Students may wear their TEAM COLOR (White or Green) to show their class spirit.  A school picture will be taken on the Football Field of every student wearing green or white!

1)  Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences, the 8th grade Football Game against Heritage Middle School is cancelled and is rescheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, October 12th at 4:30 p.m.  The game will be played at the Shaw High School Stadium in East Cleveland.  Students will be coming home after school today at their regular times.

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!  Tonight, I have four announcements:

1)  Tomorrow, Friday, September 29th, we will have our first $1.00 Jeans Day Fundraiser!  Students may pay $1 to wear their jeans with a Dress Code or Spirit Wear top.  Jeans must not have rips, tears, or holes and must be appropriate for school.  All proceeds will be used for our Field Day expenses!

2)  Picture Day is next Tuesday, October 3rd!!  Since these pictures will be used for our Yearbook, students are required to wear dress code.  Students will be allowed to dress up for their Spring Pictures.

3)  Mark you calendars for Parent/Teacher Conferences that are scheduled for October 11th and 17th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Conferences are by appointments only.  Next week, look for the information to sign up in the mail.

4)  Heskett's PTSA is still looking for volunteers to help in the Bearcat Stadium Concession Stand this tomorrow for Friday Night Football.  Interested parents should call the office asap.

Message from September 24, 2017: 
Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!  Tonight, I have four announcements:

1)  Thank you for donating to our Campaign for the Victims of Hurricane Harvey.  With your help, we collected over $300.00.  This money will help these victims start to rebuild their lives.  Team Work makes the Dream Work!

2)  Last week, I mailed home your password for Progress GradeBook.  If you did not receive it, please call the school office on Monday.  September 27th is the Midterm for the 1st Grading Period, please check GradeBook for your child's grades and assist them with submitting any missing assignments to protect their midterm grades.

3)  If your child is scheduled to attend the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip, final payment for the trip is due on Friday, 
September 29th unless you have been given until October 6th,  These dates are hard and cannot be changed.  Students who fail to meet this deadline will be removed from the list and a request for a refund will be submitted to our Treasurer's Office.

4)  Starting tomorrow, violators of the Dress Code will be given consequences of Opportunity School.   Student must be in the right solid colors, must wear pants with belt loops and a belt, must have their shirts tucked in, must not wear hoodies, and must have skirts/shorts that come to the knees.  If you have any questions about this, please give me a call on Tuesday, Sept. 26th for I am out of the district on Monday.

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!  Tonight, I have four messages:

1)  Parents, if your child's immunization records are not current for this school year, he/she will be given a letter tomorrow at the end of the school day with instructions not to return to school without their shots.  Students who can verify by their doctor's office that they have an appointment on the calendar may return to school until that date.  Every student must be compliant with this state law to keep us all safe and healthy!

2)  Hurricane Harvey Victims Need Our Help!  Now through September 23rd, Heskett Middle School is collecting spare change in an effort to assist those families impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  Please give to support this important cause...any amount is accepted.  The homeroom collecting the most money will receive a Pizza Party!

3)  Parents, please complete and return all of your Emergency Forms immediately.  These forms along with the Handbook Receipt/Internet Permission Forms were given to your youngsters and must be return TOMORROW!   It is vital that we have the medical information on file for your child in the event of an emergency and students will not be able to use the Internet in school until they have your permission forms on file.  

4)  This Friday, September 15th is Constitutional Day and students are allowed to wear Red, White, and/or Blue tops with dress code bottoms.  No jean, please!

1)  I would like to extend much appreciation to all of our families for a great start to the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you for sending your students dressed for success with positive attitudes and good behavior.  It is going to be an AMAZING year!

2)  Today, all of our students were given the Heskett Parent/Student Handbook to bring home for your review along with the Emergency Medical Cards, School Messenger Contact Info, and the Lunch Program Application.  Please complete these forms and return to school as soon as possible.  Remember students cannot use the computers at school until their Internet Permission Form located on the Handbook Receipt Page is signed by a parent/guardian.  Please take a few minutes to complete these necessary forms tonight!

3)  Finally,? Dr. Celico is looking for parents to serve on her Superintendent's Advisory Council for the current school year. The purpose of this Advisory Council is to share information about what is happening in the district, to solicit input? from parents and community members?, and to work together to achieve shared goals. The Council will meet quarterly?. The first meeting is scheduled for September 20th at 6 p.m. ?If you would like to be considered for a seat on the Superintendent's Advisory Council this year, please let me know by? September 7th."

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with PRIDE to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE! Tonight I have a Welcome Back Announcement for all of our 7th and 8th graders:

7th and 8th graders...Welcome Back to School for the 2017-2018 school year.  I am so excited to see you all in the morning.  Please remember the following items:

1.  The School Doors will open at 7:45 a.m. and 1st period will start promptly at 8:10 a.m.  Breakfast will be served between 7:45 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. so do not be late for the first day of school tomorrow.

2.  Please make sure you have your Summer Reading Assignment ready to submit to your Language Arts teacher tomorrow so that you can start the year off in a positive light.

3.  Remember that you will not be allowed to carry your cell phone or any other electronic devices during school hours so plan to leave it at home or put it in your locker before you go to your first period class.  

4.  When you enter the building, go directly to the gym to get your freshly printed schedule and report to the auditorium if you are an 8th grader or to Cafeteria East if you are a 7th graders or to Cafeteria West if you are going to eat breakfast.  Students will stay in these areas until 8:00 a.m.

5.  Finally, dress code will be checked at the door in the morning so remember to come to school "dressed for success and ready to learn!"

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with PRIDE to achieve Academic Excellence!  Today I have a four Back to School Announcements:

1) I would like to welcome you all back to the 2017-2018 school year and invite our 7th Graders and new 8th graders to our New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 22nd.  To accommodate all of our new families with parking and seating in the auditorium, we will have two programs:  students whose last names end in A-L are invited to the 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. program and last names ending in M-Z are invited to come at 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  Welcome back letters were mailed to our 7th graders today with this information along with the school calendar, student fee letter,  student dress code reminders, and immunization information.  7th graders will pick up their schedules and locker assignments during New Student Orientation or during any of the Locker Move-In days.  Eighth grade letters will be mailed tomorrow with their schedules, locker assignments/combinations, along with all of the other aforementioned items.  

2)  Locker Move In Days are Friday (8/18) and Monday (8/21) for any student who would like to come in, tour the building, and organize their lockers prior to the start of school.  Because we are busy getting school ready for opening day, students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and are welcome to come between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon or 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Parents this will also be a great time to complete your emergency medical forms and other back to school paperwork. So if you want to beat the crowd...drop in early to get organized!

3)  Please mark your calendars for Heskett's Open House Date:  Thursday, August 24th between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  There will also be a short Washington, D.C. parent informational meeting for those students who are paid in full to attend this 8th grade trip in November.  Also...please be aware that we have 8 seats left for anyone who is still interested in attending.

4)  Finally, the first day of school is Monday, August 28th.  School doors will open at 7:45 a.m.  Breakfast will be served until 8:00 a.m.  First period will start promptly at 8:10 a.m.  Dress Code will be in full effective.  Since students are not allowed to carry their cell phones or electronic devices on them during the school day, students are encouraged to keep all of these items at home or to put them in their lockers prior to going to their first period classes.  Parents...please make sure your children are well rested, prepared for school, dressed for success, and ready to learn on day one.

Good Evening!  This is Mrs. Golden, Principal of Heskett Middle School where we are working with P.R.I.D.E. to achieve ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE! Tonight I have three reminders:

1)  Locker Move-In Days start tomorrow. We will have one tomorrow and one on Monday between the hours of 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.  Remember this is a great time to get organized in your lockers, pick up your schedules, pay school fees, and for parents to complete all of the emergency back to school paperwork.  Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

2)  New Student Orientation will be on Tuesday, August 22nd for all of our 7th graders and 8th graders who are new to the district.  Remember 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. for students with last names A-L and 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. for last names M-Z.  We hope to meet all of our new families at Orientation...please come!

3)  Finally, I want to remind all of our students to make sure that their Summer Reading Projects are completed by the first day of school on August 28th.  This reading assignment is a major part of their language arts grade for the first marking period.  It is worth 100 points and I strongly encourage all of our students at Heskett Middle School to make sure you are reading and completing your work.

1)  Our second and final Locker Move-In Day is tomorrow! Parents you may bring your child between the hours of 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and/or 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.
